Alien Species and Interest in Earth

There've been different alien species observing earth and interacting with the human population for thousands of years.  This is accepted by the majority of people who are involved with related research, believe in the existence of extraterrestrial species, or have a general interest in the possibility.  There are two general prevailing views of aliens.  Each generalized interpretation has evolved from a biased perspective derived from basic human characteristics.  Some believe aliens are here to guide or help mankind while others view alien species as malevolent.

Intelligent species from other worlds would have vastly different evolutionary and cultural traits from humans including moral perceptions.  They would also be thousands if not millions of years more advanced and would likely interpret intelligence differently than humans.  Any given world's biological and geological diversity would not be significant.  Basic resources like water or precious minerals are abundant throughout the universe and earth's biological diversity would not provide a reason for extended observations lasting hundreds or thousands of years.  The only logical interest would be earth's ability to support life.  An alien species would need to find a world to inhabit if they faced a probable catastrophic cosmological event or their world was no longer capable of supporting life.

Catastrophic events caused by black holes, stellar or planetary collisions, and supernovas could be recognized hundreds of years in advance.  Theories of a contracting universe would present another catastrophic scenario.  The process of contraction or gravitational shifts would require aliens to observe multiple locations for hundreds or thousands of years to determine which worlds wouldn't be affected.  Recent scientific evidence supporting a rapid expanding universe would indicate our universe does not have enough mass for this process to occur.  Scientific evidence of contraction or gravitational shifts occurring in our universe would not be released to the public without extensive collaborated verification.

Alien species observing earth would have a concern for the protection of the environment but this has little to do with a love or interest in humanity.  The delay in adapting earth to support life is likely twofold.  Would earth be affected by catastrophic events, and would earth’s bacterial or viral diversity prevent their survival.  If earth is determined to be safe for habitation, one or more alien species may begin a process of adapting earth for their own survival.
